The pruning, this first task takes place between December and March. It consists in eliminating part of the branches of each vine. Pruning orientates the growth of the vine and influences its production.
At Château Guiraud, the Semillon is pruned in a « fan »; two branches and three cots on each of them two eyes orbuds are left. The Sauvignon is pruned "à la bordelaise", with two branches and four buds fixed to the wires.
